You are not born with Confidence , you need to build it.

You are not born- with confidence, you need to build it within yourself. It is one of the most valued virtues in today's times. No employer looks for 'confidence' as a skill in the resume but the lack of it might just cost you everything you've ever wanted. Along with building technical skills, people invest in building confidence within themselves.

Well building confidence doesn’t require you to be successful it requires climbing the following steps till you have reached a point where you are comfortable being uncomfortable.

You might need to navigate your way through these check posts to get where you want to.

·       Self Awareness

·       Self Acceptance

·       Self Belief

SELF AWARENESS

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” ―Aristotle

We try so hard and spend hours thinking and overthinking to understand others, understand their actions, reactions, emotions, mindset, likes, dislikes and what not! Amidst all this, we completely fail to understand ourselves. Being ‘aware of yourself’ means being aware of who you truly are and what kind of a person you are. Self-awareness is not an overnight process. It might take you days or even months to come to terms with yourself. The recipe of self-awareness just reads one ingredient, solitude.

To get to know yourself you need to spend time all by yourself in solitude away from all kinds of worldly distractions. Contemplation might lead you into retrospection. It is during contemplation and retrospection that you find the real YOU.

SELF ACCEPTANCE

'Trying to be someone else is a waste of who you are'  - Annonymous

You will only be able to accept yourself once you are fully aware of who you are. Self-acceptance will come only after self-awareness. You will not be able to accept something you are not aware of similarly, you will not be able to accept yourself if you are not aware of who you truly are. Self-acceptance involves you accepting you the way you are. It is all about realising that you are imperfectly perfect. It is not about ignoring your flaws but it’s about knowing your flaws and acknowledging them. Not being afraid of being the real you in front of the world. Building the attitude where you will not be affected if others don’t like you.

SELF BELIEF

‘Self-belief comes from the promises you make and keep to yourself.’

Self Belief will only come after self-awareness and self-acceptance.  Only when you have completely understood yourself and accepted it you will be able to believe in yourself. Since you have already assessed and evaluated yourself, you know what you're truly capable of. When you know your capabilities you know your self-worth. Your self-worth is what will nurture self-belief inside you. When we say ' I believe in myself ' it means we know what we are capable of.

Self-belief is directly related to self-confidence. If you are high on self-belief, you are meant to be high on self-confidence. The first step you take towards fulfilling your dreams is believing in yourself.

You are not the problem, the problem is what you think of yourself. What matters is your opinion of yourself and not others opinion of who they want you to be. When you focus on your opinion, you will become aware of your true self and will learn to fully accept yourself and will eventually start believing in yourself. This will help you develop a personality full of confidence.

To Peter ~ with Love

Dear Peter Kavinsky, You always wanted people to look at you beyond your physical appearance, beyond your heart-warming smile, lushy hair and well-toned body. But this superficial world only saw you with their superficial eyes. It’s difficult for someone to actually see right through you especially today when the air around you is full of pretence and the people around you are always trying to be someone they are not. When the air itself is filled with pretence it is difficult to keep yourself real. At times even when you want to be real you can’t because the world is not very accepting towards those who dare to stand out. You often find yourself fighting with yourself when such conflicts arise in your mind. Its easy to get swayed and washed off by the waves of pretence and be a part of the ocean but being that rock that doesn’t get washed off by the waves takes a lot of courage. In the era of text messages, you fell for a ‘love letter’. You are so easily deceived to be the guy wh...

To Vishu ~ with Love

Dear Vishu, Life is so easy and comfortable when everything isn’t chaotic, but at times chaos is exactly what we need in our lives. Chaos is that thunderstorm that comes so suddenly washes everything away. Everything that you were, everything you believed in and most importantly everything that made you who you are. It washes away everything and leaves behind a rainbow, a more beautiful version of you. You were one of those kinds who planned almost everything in their lives. But you should always expect the unexpected. Life often throws you in the most unexpected situations when you least expect it. Who knew that coming to Bihar for some work would throw you in a situation where you land up getting married to a random girl you hadn’t even seen in your entire life! A life without adventure and thrill becomes so monotonous and with time we find ourselves getting used to the monotony of our lives. ‘Rinku is a dangerous girl’ is what you thought. But the truth is that you were i...

2nd April 2011 - A Memorable Date

2nd April 2011, A date that will always be etched in the memory of every Indian cricket lover. A day when the entire nation celebrated a festival irrespective of their religion. A day when the dreams of billions of Indians across the globe were fulfilled. A day when we brought home the trophy after 28 long years. It was the first time in the history of cricket that two Asian countries met each other at a World Cup final. The match was scheduled to be played at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. This World Cup Final was going to be Master Blaster Sachin's last world cup and it was also MS Dhoni's first ODI world cup final as a captain. I can recall what this day was like, 10 years back. A 10-year-old little girl anxiously sitting in front of the television with her hands folded and lips sealed. All she could understand about cricket were its basic rules. She only knew what a boundary and wicket meant. During the first innings of the 2011 World Cup Finale game, with every b...
